Sundland Verk – Industrial heritage
Sundland Verk in Drammen, is one of Norway's most significant sustainable redevelopment projects. It is a large-scale urban transformation project planned to be finished in 2060. Meanwhile the area is planned to house temporary life that anchors the new place identity. As part of Natural State, my work encompassed place strategy, fostering participation, integrating local culture, and temporary programming. Dating back to 1911, the place functioned as a railway workshop and the most important work provider in Drammen.
The 50,000 m² is being re-envisioned as a vibrant mixed-use area, thoughtfully incorporating housing, offices, retail, and cultural spaces. Collaborating with esteemed partners NSW Arkitekter, Grindaker, and Grete Jarmund, we are meticulously shaping Sundland Verk into a future-oriented district that proudly retains its rich industrial heritage.
